Care and protection of your LIGHTLINE product

Important information

Initial cleaning
Perform an initial clean during or after installation.
Immediately remove particles of iron from tools, scaffolding and transport equipment as grinding and drilling dirt, swarf and weld spatter from working with steel in the vicinity can accumulate on the stainless steel. This can locally penetrate the passive layer of the non-corroding steel and result in point corrosion.

Stainless steel:
All stainless steel parts are made of V2A (1.4301) and their surface is finely ground (grain size 240).

Installation hint:
In the event of uneven walls, we would recommend leaving the screws for the wall brackets slightly loose and only tightening them once installation has been completed.

Important:
If stainless steel surfaces will be exposed to certain levels of corrosion, the material can nevertheless oxidise in spite of its "corrosion-proof" specification.

  • by extreme levels of air humidity with salt content by the sea
  • by especially aggressive air contamination in heavily-polluted industrial regions or in the vicinity of busy roads (acid rain)
  • by coming into contact with chlorinated water (swimming pools)
  • by the use of tools or equipment that have previously been used with steel
  • by coming into contact with construction chemicals
  • spray water containing de-icing salt and films of cement that could land on the surface from concrete cladding or mullions (for instance by rainwater) and then accumulate there.

Help/Prevention:

For optimum treatment of the surfaces we recommend our LIGHTLINE Shine car product.

The surfaces can also be cleaned by wiping with a rinsing and cleaning agent and general stainless cleaners can be used. Regular cleaning is indispensable depending on the level of dirt.

Stainless steel surfaces should be cleaned at the same interval as glass surfaces:

  • Slightly polluted environments:
    every 6 to 12 months

  • Heavily polluted environments:
    every 3 to 6 months

The screw fixings should be checked at least once a year to check that they are tight and tightened if need be. The rain gutter should also be cleaned depending on how dirty it is, in order to ensure good drainage of water.
